Applebee's Veterans Day free meals: Restaurant dishes free meals to military

Today is Veterans Day, November 11, 2012, a day to honor American veterans of all wars. It's not too late to honor today's vets and active military by going out to enjoy a free Veterans Day meal at Applebee's. Any day is a big deal at Applebee's, but with so many Veterans Day restaurant freebies available today and Monday between Chili's, Uno's Chicago Grill, and Olive Garden, the choice is a tough one.
But Applebee's has no trouble tempting veterans and their families to come in for their free Veterans Day meals.
"Every Veterans Day, Applebee's invites vets and active duty military to come have a meal on us. It's our way of saying thanks for their service. But, really, every day is an opportunity to say thank you. So, join us in our Thank You Movement to personally show your gratitude for those who have served, or are currently serving, in our military."
Obama Honors Veterans, Promises Benefits
Speaking of honoring the military with free meals, President Obama was busy today doing what presidents always do on Veterans Day. On November 11, 2012, the Chicago Tribune reported,
"President Barack Obama laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to mark the Veterans Day holiday on Sunday, declaring that soldiers' needs would be met even as the country winds down wars in the Middle East and Asia."
CBS News said President Obama continued,
"No one who fights for this country overseas should ever have to fight for a job, or a roof over their head, or the care that they have earned when they come home. No veteran should have to wait months or years for the benefits that you've earned, so we will continue to attack the claims backlog. We won't let up. We will not let up," Obama said.
The Military Wallet encourages all military that are looking for a free meal this Veterans Day to have proof of Military Service. Most companies require some form of military ID. Some restaurants and companies may go by the honor system.
