Happy Halloween! Neighborhood welcomes trick-or-treaters

Thousands of people converged on the Old Northeast section of St. Petersburg to enjoy Halloween.
"I love Halloween,” said Mackenzie Higgason, one of the many young trick-or-treaters.
It's an annual tradition here, neighbors say, for the past 30 years.  Every year, more and more ghosts and goblins come out not just for the treats but to take part in this unique experience.
It's a family event.  Even the kids at heart have a good time.
"I’ve been here for about six years,” said a man dressed as Beetlejuice who also calls himself a Halloween enthusiast.  When asked what brings him back every year, he said, “It’s Halloween. I come out running up and down the streets.  People love me.”
The Gregory’s brought their son, Zachary, just 18-months-old, saying they wouldn’t miss this event for the world.
"Last year, Zach was just an infant and we were just kind of driving around looking for just decorations to show him,” Angela Gregory said.  “We found this neighborhood and we had to stop and park and now we're going to make it a yearly thing."
"It's a lot of fun,” said Mark Gregory.  “I mean, it's worth coming out.  I mean, we'll be here next year, the year after.  You know, so it will be a new family tradition."
The event has become so large that police are brought in to make sure kids and their families have a good time while at the same time are able to stay safe.
