Cassadee Pope Wins 'The Voice'

Star-studded finale included performances from Rihanna, Smokey Robinson, Peter Frampton and Bruno Mars.

After three months of heated competition, which included blind auditions, battle rounds, knockouts, killer live performances and tributes, the third season of "The Voice" came to a close with the crowning of a new potential superstar. Would it be pop songstress Cassadee Pope, Scottish rocker Terry McDermott or soulful family man Nicholas David?
After a two-hour, live performance-packed finale that generated the most votes cast in the show's history, host Carson Daly revealed that Pope is "The Voice," making Blake Shelton a two-time-winning coach; McDermott and David finished second and third, respectively.
'The Voice' Crowns Its season three Winner
"I don't know [what to say]," Pope said smiling but looking stunned. "I feel amazing. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. Thank you Blake, the producers, hair and makeup, Carson, the band, Christina, thank you so much!"
In the moments before her name was announced, Pope admitted she was anxious in leaving her band to try her hand at being a solo act but now feels validated.
"I was nervous to step out on my own and this experience made me feel like I could do it," she said. "All four of you [judges] have made me feel like I could do it. Thank you."
In addition to the excitement surrounding this newly anointed victor, the live finale featured so many superstar performers, we're still amazed they fit them all in. Chart-topper Rihanna kicked things off with "Diamonds," followed by McDermott's "bring back" performance of "Rock And Roll All Night" with fellow former contestants Rudy Parris, Amanda Brown, Michaela Paige and Bryan Keith. Next up was the very soulful sounds of Motown legend Smokey Robinson and David with a duet of "Cruisin'," followed by a performance of "Here With You" by The Killers with an assist from Pope.
Really and truly, the hits just kept on coming, with a great blend of lively group numbers that featured all of this season's contestants, as well as current stars. The show's "heartbreakers," Dez Duron, Cody Belew, Julio Cesar, Diego Val and MacKenzie Bourg performed "Stacy's Mom," followed by Kelly Clarkson with her song "Catch My Breath" featuring Pope and McDermott. The next "bring back" performance featured a girl power theme courtesy Pope and her gal pals/former contestants Melanie Martinez, Liz Davis and De'Borah, who sang "It's Time."
McDermott kept the legendary duets coming with a performance of "Baby I Love Your Way" with industry veteran and Grammy-winner Peter Frampton, which was followed by a little disco dancing to an all-female "Voice" contestant rendition of "Best of my Love." At this point in the show, the performances were interrupted briefly by a message from "Saint Cee lo Green" who announced that all three contestants were getting new cars!
Friend of MTV Bruno Mars stopped by for a live performance debut of another song off Unorthodox Jukebox, this time with his soulful breakup ballad, "When I Was Your Man." Mars was followed by David's "bring back" number "End of the Road" with Trevin Hunte, Amanda Brown and Dez Duron. The would-be pop princess finished off the duets for the evening with her hero Avril Lavigne and they sang Lavigne's hit, "I'm With You".
Fittingly, the live performances came to a conclusion with the vocal and musical stylings of all four "Voice" coaches, Green, Christina Aguilera, Shelton and Adam Levine, who sang Green Day's "Time Of Your Life," drawing Aguilera and Green's run on the show to a close.
