This is simply a preview for Monday night's Slammy Awards which will air live from Philadelphia.
Personally, I feel the most interesting part about this year's festivities is the fact that fans had to download the WWE app in order to vote. This move not only ensured the WWE app would get more downloads, but it also made the voting open to a more niche group of fans.
Let's face it, not everyone that watches the WWE wants the app, nor do they all have smartphones. However, it's safe to say they all have an Internet connection and would have gone to WWE.com to place their votes.
Keep in mind that these awards are simply an added bit of entertainment for fans and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
That being said, the WWE has done a great job launching its app.
They have also done a great job a promoting it in order to generate fan interest. The fact is that the company has to do what they can to entice fans to check out the new products, especially those that open up the door to communication with a new demographic.
In the end, we will have to wait and see how things turn out Monday night when the big winners are revealed.
